Calculation Policy
The school calculation policy is a guide to the written methods and mathematical vocabulary that teachers will teach in each year group for the four number operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The policy’s purpose is to ensure that methods are taught consistently across school and to children of an appropriate age. It guides teachers and parents to year group expectations and to visual models and resources that can be used to scaffold children’s understanding of concepts.
